For anyone that wants to learn how to setup and tune their own bows this video was done by one of the top archers in the sport, John Dudley. He has done it all. He shows everything from start to finish in this video.
I have always wanted to do my own work on my bow but never knew where to begin. I am fortunate enough to have an awesome bow shop that doesn’t charge me to make adjustments on my bow, but it is 45 minutes each way. That takes quite a bid to time out of my day to go to the shop, plus every time I go, I usually end up buying something new. Now, I feel like I could do a little more on my own. But without a bow press I can’t do everything so I go to my local shop for the major stuff.
You never know when something will come un-adjusted on your bow. You could be out in the hunting woods, or maybe you just don’t live close to a shop. It is always nice to be able to work on your own bow, if that is something that you are interested in. It just makes having a bow so much easier when you can do your own work, and cheaper too.
There are a lot of great videos on YouTube on bow tuning. Nockonarchery is probably the best that I’ve found so far. John will show you everything that you need to know about bow tuning. There are also some great threads on Archerytalk if you can get past all the fanboy posts.
